Job Requirements
">As a Travel Officer with the USSS, you will travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions. You will also be responsible for carrying and using a firearm, maintaining firearm proficiency, and submitting to random drug testing. Additionally, you must possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular and corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye. You must also certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.
Qualifications
">To be eligible for this position, you must meet certain qualifications. These include being at least 20 years old and less than 37 years old, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process. Furthermore, you must be able to complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
