What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEGISLATIVE CORRESPONDENT position at United States Senate?
Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, seeks a Legislative Correspondent to cover appropriations, budget, finance and Senate Small Business Committee issues. Primary duties include processing incoming mail and drafting outgoing constituent mail and providing administrative assistance to support the annual appropriations process. Other duties could include meeting with stakeholders, conducting research, and providing assistance to legislative staff assigned to the Senate Small Business Committee. A successful candidate will be organized, detail oriented, and highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Ties to Massachusetts a strong plus. Prior experience working on Capitol Hill and a public policy background are preferred. The salary for this position is $61,000 annually, with benefits that include a federal student loan repayment option.
