About Us
The United States Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Network Operations Specialist in our Network Management department. The Network Management Group is looking for candidates who seek the opportunity to work in a technically challenging environment and can demonstrate continual progression in monitoring and maintaining a complex network.
The Sergeant at Arms ensures the operational integrity and security of the Senate's technological framework. We are dedicated to fostering an innovative, secure, and efficient environment through cutting-edge technology solutions. The Enterprise Operations team is at the forefront of this mission, focusing on the engineering, implementation, monitoring, and proactive maintenance of our critical technologies, which includes our network and infrastructure.
Role Overview
This is professional work to maintain the overall health of the Senate network and provide critical network infrastructure related services to the user base. Tasks involve proactive network monitoring, analyzing any alerts received, configuring critical network devices and services, and working on a variety of projects as needed. Incumbents will provide configuration and troubleshooting support for existing data network systems and services within the campus and wide-area network. The position is also responsible for providing timely support for any issues escalated to our team from a variety of other Senate entities, including users within the Senate community.
Responsibilities
- Engage in proactive monitoring of critical network components and services.
- Respond to network alerts or anomalies in a time sensitive manner.
- Perform daily system checks of critical network components and services.
- Manage concurrent short and long-term projects as required.
- Produce clear and concise technical documentation.
- Perform any required network changes within tightly controlled maintenance windows.
Key Accountabilities / Essential Job Duties
Analyzes, configures, upgrades, moves, and administers modifications and additions to data network services and devices. Monitors the data and voice services running across the data network, monitors network components for availability and stability. Manages the wide area network (WAN), equipment, and network connections. Creates and manages databases, procedures, and network documentation including equipment inventory of utilized spare and decommissioned equipment and services. Collects statistics of network events and performance for reports and network analysis. Trains / cross trains fellow employees on network operations process, procedures, and system technology. Responds to, analyzes, tracks, and resolves network trouble calls. Other duties, as assigned.
