What are the responsibilities and job description for the SPECIAL ASSISTANT/DRIVER position at United States Senate?
Senator Adam Schiff seeks a Special Assistant/Driver in his Washington, D.C. office. Applicants should be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to act with discretion and sound, independent judgment. Ideal candidates will be team players who are able to adjust in a fast-paced environment and work well across teams to ensure smooth operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitating the Senator’s movements throughout the Capitol Complex and DMV area to help execute the daily schedule;
- Driving the Senator;
- Maintaining a line of communication between the Senator and his other staff;
- Compiling the Senator’s briefing binder and coordinating the flow of materials and feedback to and from the Senator;
- Supporting the Senator, scheduling team, and other relevant staffers in quickly adapting to any changes to the schedule throughout the day; and
- Providing additional support to the scheduling team as needed.
The Special Assistant will report to the Director of Scheduling. Prior scheduling or operations experience, or at least 1-2 years of experience in a legislative office, campaign environment or other equivalent environment, is preferred but not required. California ties are strongly preferred and should be noted. Qualified applicants must have a clean driving record and full-time access to a car; extended hours and weekend availability are also necessary.
This is a full-time, in-person exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for health insurance, student loan repayment and all Senate employee benefits.
