Infrastructure Engineer
United Structural Services LLC provides commercial and residential foundation repair, waterproofing, floor support systems, sinkhole remediation, encapsulation, concrete leveling, and other specialty contracting services to Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama.
United Structural Systems is looking to add an Infrastructure Engineer to our team. The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, upgrading, researching, deploying, and repairing computer/server/network hardware and cloud services like Microsoft 365. This position also supports other support personnel for needs related to issues brought up by our end users.
What you’ll do:
- Monitor health of systems (includes, but not limited to Windows, Hyper-V/VMWare, Linux) and network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc). Act on any issues.
- Diagnose and fix hardware and software errors, including but not limited to Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Storage, Microsoft 365, Teams, Backups, etc.
- Install firmware, OS, software, and other updates to systems/network devices.
- Troubleshoot PC/laptop hardware/software issues, including but not limited to Windows/Mac, Office product line such as Outlook, Word and Excel, VoIP phones, browsers such as IE and Chrome, printers, network/server components, and audio/video conferencing equipment.
- Provide technical assistance by phone, email and in person.
- Escalate problems as required to other members of the IT team and/or managed service providers (MSP).
- Take ownership of user problems and follow up on the status of problems on behalf of the user and communicate progress in a timely manner.
- Utilize tools to take care of user needs such as but not limited to: setting up users, resetting accounts and passwords, email setup and configuration, setup and imaging process for laptop/desktops, assigning permissions to user accounts
- Utilize help desk ticketing system to answer customer issues, providing support for issues brought to us by either email, phone or walk-ups
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours issues.
- Other operational tasks as required.
What you’ll need:
- Associate’s degree or Equivalent Relevant Experience
- 3 years’ experience in IT is required, prior System/Network Admin/Engineer experience preferred.
- Technical skills – Experience with as many of the following as possible: Windows Server (2016 and up), Active Directory/Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, O365, Backup Technologies (like tape drives, etc.), storage, networking (router/switch/firewalls).
- IT industry standard certifications preferred (i.e., MCSE, CCNA, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with customers and team members in a professional manner
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
