What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at United Supermarkets?
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for entering, maintaining and updating team member information in order to ensure an accurate payroll. He/She is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of information processed.
Key Responsibilities:
Process all new hires
Verify previously entered team member data
Compliance with child support orders and other garnishments
Accurately enter and maintain all types of team member data, including direct deposits, pay rate changes, status changes, job code changes, and tax status changes
Prepare weekly payroll for distribution to 90 locations
Compliance with payroll laws and federal guidelines
Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with team members and co-workers to promote ultimate service
Perform other duties as requested or required by management
Research team member inquiries and reply in a timely manner
Key Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or equivalent
College education preferred
3-5 years previous Payroll experience preferred
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to meet strict deadlines
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
Strong PC skills - working knowledge of Lawson and Excel a plus
Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude
Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
