Responsibilities:
The successful Scrub Tech will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
- Assisting the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
- Gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
- Performing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.
- Gowning and gloving surgeons and assistants.
- Retaining all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.
- Transporting surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas.
- Interacting effectively with patients and others regardless of age or ethnic background.
- Using Standard Universal Precautions and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
