Job Summary
Anesthesia, Gynecology, Orthopedic, Orthopedic Foot & Ankle, Pain Management, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, General and Spinal Surgery are specialty areas where skilled surgeons perform procedures in our state-of-the-art facility with four operating rooms and one procedure room.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
- Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterility.
- Gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
- Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.
- Gown and glove surgeons and assistants.
- Update physician preference cards accurately.
- Handle specimens for pathology, confirming source and name with the surgeon.
- Clean and reprocess instrument sets in sterile supply.
- Interact effectively with patients and others from diverse backgrounds.
- FOLLOW Standard Universal Precautions, hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices.
- Participate in environmental hazard surveillance, infection control, and emergency preparedness drills.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment usage and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with visitors, physicians, staff, patients, and employees while respecting patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Completion of a Scrub Technician Program with certification required.
- Two years' experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to anatomy and surgical procedures.
