United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter’s pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF). The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option. The selected intern will need to report onsite at the Silver Spring, MD office for the entire duration of the program which runs from May through August 2025. United Therapeutics does not provide housing or transportation. A stipend for relocation assistance may be provided on a case-by-case basis. Interns are responsible for arranging their housing and transportation. A relocation stipend may be provided for non-local candidates. Determinations will be made on a case-by-case basis. 2025 Internship Program Dates: Monday, May 19 – Friday, August 15 Monday, June 2 – Friday, August 29 Who you are Candidates should be able to identify business development opportunities, such as therapeutics for in-licensing or acquisition, by reviewing sources like clinicaltrials.gov, PubMed, company websites, and medical conference materials. They must assess these opportunities by evaluating strengths, weaknesses, market potential, competitive landscape, and financial viability, while also analyzing preclinical and clinical data. Candidates should be capable of synthesizing their findings into a clear, well-structured presentation and effectively communicating their insights to their manager and other stakeholders at UT. Throughout the summer, the Advanced Intern will research and evaluate new products and/or therapeutic areas of interest to UT, culminating in a final presentation with a recommendation for a new project based on their findings. Minimum Requirements Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s level, PhD, or PharmD program in a scientific or business related area of study Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite in the Silver Spring, MD office Job Location & Travel This internship is located onsite at our Silver Spring, MD office. Currently this is a hybrid role requiring four days per week in the office. In office requirements could increase based on business need. The salary for this position ranges from $26.00 to $32.00 per hour.
