Position Overview
Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the CNC Operator will be performing various types of operations machining department as needed. This position will also require an outgoing and engaging personality to interact with colleagues, along with great attention to detail and critical thinking skills. Will be working with hands, using hand tools, and power tools and/or machines to complete daily assigned task.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
· Reading and interpreting blueprints and knowledge of GD&T
· Responsible for programming/set up and operating CNC Mills & Lathes including Haas, Bridgeport and Traks.
· Program (conversational and G code) and set up CNC Mills & Lathes
· Operate and troubleshoot CNC equipment to produce high quality parts by using blue prints, CAD models, and verbal instructions.
· Design and fabricate basic fixtures and tools necessary for the parts being produced
· Programming based on print requirements (proper machine operations, g-code programming)
· Inspection of parts (first piece and in-process inspection) to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels for the finished product
· Measure dimensions of the finished product to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
· Make offset changes, tooling changes, tooling adjustments and machine repairs during production runs to ensure required production efficiencies and quality requirements are met.
· Submit first piece samples and documentation to Quality Control.
· Obtain tools from the tool crib and verify that the correct part number is used prior to putting into service.
· Work with the CNC Supervisor or CNC Lead to resolve any tooling or setup problems that occur during daily operations.
· Verify CNC Machines are in good working order prior to beginning production or setup. Notify supervision of any machine repairs that must be addressed so that they can be scheduled as needed.
· Check for efficient operation of the machining process. Propose adjustments to reduce wasted raw materials and consumable costs.
· Check for excessive tool usage and notify supervisor for corrective action.
· Inform supervisor when tools and supplies are needed to avoid critical shortages that result in downtime.
· Follow control plans and operation sheet requirements to produce parts to precise customer specifications.
· Comply with all company and department housekeeping and safety rules. Report any violations or safety concerns to management promptly.
- This position is in a job shop environment, so there will be an opportunity to setup and run a variety of parts.
Experience and Skills:
· Maintains product and company reputation by complying with provided work instructions, ensuring thereby product safety at all time.
· A minimum of 2 years of CNC operation experience, (Experience operation of HAAS VF2, VF4, TRM is a plus). Recent graduate from CNC program will be considered.
· Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· GD&T knowledge
· Ability to use measuring equipment – calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, depth gauges, & size blocks
· Must be accurate, detailed oriented, and quality conscious
· Ability to prioritize, organize, and execute multiple assignments

Physical demands:
· Shop Floor environment / shared workbench or workstation
· Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
· Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools)
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Ability to tolerate constant noise (machine motors)
· Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions
· Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
Experience/Education Minimum Requirements:
· Must be able to lift and pull 50 lbs
· Manufacturing experience is a PLUS
· Experience operating hand tools and power tools PREFERRED
· Autonomous, self-starter
