What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Heavy-Duty Vehicle Technician position at United Transport LLC?
We are looking for a talented and reliable Lead Mechanic to oversee and perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on semi trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all fleet vehicles (as well as outside customers) are in optimal working condition, minimizing downtime, and maximizing performance. You will lead a team of mechanics while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on semi trucks, including engines, transmissions, electrical and hydraulic systems, etc.
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on all fleet vehicles, including but not limited to brakes, tires, suspension, fuel systems, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to use specialized tools that connect to the truck's electronic control units (ECUs) to read and clear codes, view sensor data, and perform advanced commands, ultimately aiding in identifying and resolving issues.
- Ensure all repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the service manager and other departments to ensure timely and effective repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and inspections in the company’s maintenance management system.
- Monitor and maintain a safe and clean work environment by following proper safety protocols and equipment maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, fleet manager, and other personnel regarding vehicle performance and issues.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
