About The Role
A Cost Analyst is responsible for evaluating and analyzing financial data to help an organization optimize expenses, improve profitability, and enhance financial efficiency. They work closely with finance, operations, and management teams to develop cost structures, budgets, and forecasts.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial data and cost structures to identify areas for cost savings and process improvements.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, reports, and models.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for projects and operations.
- Monitor and report on variances between actual and budgeted costs.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and finance teams to assess cost drivers.
- Conduct profitability analysis for products, projects, or departments.
- Support financial decision-making by providing cost-benefit analysis and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.
- Assist in pricing strategies by analyzing cost data and market conditions.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 10 years plus of work experience in cost analysis, financial analysis, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPA, CMA, or related certification.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or similar industries.
- Knowledge of activity-based costing and process improvement methodologies.
