In this crucial role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the financial health of our projects. You'll work closely with diverse teams and ensure accurate financial reporting, project cost tracking, budget adherence, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. As an ideal candidate, you will have strong analytical skills, experience in project accounting, and a solid understanding of utility or construction-related financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain stationary for long periods of time; communicate verbally and nonverbally, perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. About The Role

In this crucial role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the financial health of our projects. You'll work closely with diverse teams and ensure accurate financial reporting, project cost tracking, budget adherence, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations. As an ideal candidate, you will have strong analytical skills, experience in project accounting, and a solid understanding of utility or construction-related financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the financial aspects of multiple project budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Perform cost tracking, analysis, and reporting for ongoing projects to prevent overruns.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports including variance analysis.
- Collaborate with project managers, field operations, and finance team to maintain project cost controls and validate cost allocations.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligns with project progress and contract terms (percentage of completion, milestone-based, etc.
- Work with billing team to review and approve, subcontractor payments and change orders.
- Manage the month end close process, ensure GAAP compliance, and monthly WIP analysis.
- Support internal and external audits providing necessary documentation and reconciliations
- Assist in Contract reviews to ensure financial terms align with company objectives.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance team.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting or a related role.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.
- Highly proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
- Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in the utility or energy sector.
- Familiarity with SAGE 300 and project management software.
