Position: Community Initiatives Volunteer & Project Coordinator
Reports To: SVP Community Initiatives
Job Summary
Responsible for coordinating the volunteer services and internships in Community Initiatives. Works closely with all Community Initiatives programs to promote volunteer opportunities and recruit and screen volunteer prospects. Maintains a professional and cooperative working relationship with other agencies and community stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the vetting and placement of volunteers for the CI department
- Responsible for completing background checks for interns
- Maintains Involve volunteer database and ensures current listing of all department volunteer opportunities
- Ensures volunteer hours are captured in volunteer databases for reporting
- Serves as lead on MyWay software for CI department
- Develops and maintains community and corporate relationships to expand volunteer services
- Represents Community Initiatives at committee meetings, agency fairs, speaking engagements and other events as assigned
- Provides outreach activities for programs within CI
- Manages the scheduling and coordination of agency speaker requests for department
- Assists with recruiting and coordinating volunteer services for all CI programs
- Regularly schedules and conducts MOW volunteer orientations and assists with the training and scheduling of VITA and SHIP volunteers
- Represents CI programs in monthly marketing meetings and other meetings assigned
- Assists with Long-term Recovery volunteer vetting and placements
- Manages Relias database for CI staff training needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to prioritize, effectively manage time and multi-task
- Excellent project management and organizational skills are essential
- Computer experience with Microsoft operations and ability to integrate specialized management databases
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be self-directed with ability to make judgments and function independently
- Proven ability to work in a team-based environment
- Volunteer coordination or project management experience required
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience
Minimum five years relevant professional work experience preferred
Other
Flexible work schedule; Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to be insured by UWCA’s insurance
