Position Summary

United Way of Central Indiana recognizes that the key to success is a strong and cohesive team that works through shared values to achieve our mission. The Volunteer Headquarter (VHQ) Pilot Volunteer Network & Training Coordinator identifies and catalogues volunteer opportunities across sectors to promote volunteer centric engagement that meets the needs of a variety of volunteer profiles and motivations. This role promotes organizational readiness leading to meaningful experiences for both the volunteer and organization. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential to fulfill this role and execute Pilot goals community wide. 

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Opportunity Curation: Initiate and drive relationship building and collaboration with organizations across nonprofit sectors to gather known volunteer opportunities and strategically surface organizational needs that could be addressed through impactful volunteerism. Sectors include, but not limited to arts and culture, environmental and animal, education, health, human services, and public and societal benefit. Discover meaningful volunteer opportunities designed for a variety of volunteer profiles and impetuses, inclusive of individuals, families, small and large groups, high school and college service participants, corporations, associations, and field learning experiences, to name a few.
  • Catalog: Support development of catalog system to organize volunteer opportunities in a volunteer centric manner. Work with organizations to maintain current and accurate volunteer opportunity descriptions with timely VHQ catalog updates.
  • Professional Development: Use VHQ framework and industry best practices to develop training materials, supporting resources, and sustainable implementation plans for responsive and meaningful volunteer engagement. Employ varied methods to deliver trainings and guide stakeholder utilization of VHQ platform and tools. Assess training outcomes to inform and restructure as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to inform recruitment strategy, platform design, and development of technology-enhanced training materials and processes. Promote enthusiastic engagement between current and potential volunteers, organizations offering volunteer opportunities, and VHQ.

Qualifications

The individual will also maintain knowledge of trends in his/her area of responsibility and review literature to understand key issues.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Non-profit Management, Administration, or similar field experience or five years of relevant experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirements on a case-by-case basis.
  • Advanced understanding of and experience in learning design, facilitation, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of asynchronous learning techniques and relevant technology desired.
  • Experience with Hands on connect, Salesforce database or other similar volunteer management and CRM systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are crucial for success.
