POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Senior Manager of Development Operations supports three main focus areas: process management for United Way of Central Maryland’s third-party donations, maintaining accurate donor records to support stewardship activities, and working collaboratively to assist on fundraising technology needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
35% Management of Third-Party Platform Presence
Serve as the key coordinator between Development, Digital Services, and Finance teams related to third-party donation platforms. Understand the full life-cycle of third-party donors, from UWCM’s presence on the platforms through stewardship process of third-party donations.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage United Way of Central Maryland’s presence on third-party fundraising platforms, including Benevity, CyberGrants, YourCause, and FrontStream
- Monitor donations and work collaboratively with digital services and finance teams to ensure donor and donation information is accurately captured
- Support development and major gifts staff in stewardship and engagement needs for third-party donors
35% Donor Data Management and Prospect Research
Ensure accuracy of donor and supporter records, and help identify prospects for stewardship programs. Help capture and record expanded activities beyond donations to provide more complete records of support and engagement with UWCM.
Responsibilities include:
- Support of portfolio development and management for major, mid-level, and annual donor stewardship strategies
- Monitor and update donor and supporter information in CRM system to ensure accurate records are maintained
- Use CRM, wealth screening and prospect research tools to identify, research, and analyze current and potential donors to support UWCM’s strategies for managing and growing mid-level and major gift donor relationships
30% Fundraising Technology Support
Serve as a core member of Development Operations team, assisting with special fundraising projects and their related technology, data, and reporting needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively with digital services, marketing, and finance teams to support special fundraising projects
- Facilitate project management and effective implementation of processes related to fundraising technology platforms
- Assist with other data needs of development team, including annual reporting and reports to other departments within United Way of Central Maryland
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Skills: Three (3) years relevant experience, with Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Ability to apply analytical skills and creative problem solving to solutions/analyses. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems. Sound interpersonal skills and capabilities.
Language and Communications: Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as is the ability to communicate data-driven information in clear and understandable terms. Ability to adeptly respond to questions, and act as a positive and professional representative of United Way.
Reasoning and Self-Management: Ability to analyze complex situations and identify the critical components and dynamics to design creative and appropriate responses with options and solutions. Ability to work effectively with different temperaments/work styles and to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to manage issues and crisis calmly and effectively as necessary. Must be able to plan, organize and prioritize one’s workload to maximize use of time and meet varied, multiple needs.
Other Critical Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and sound judgment to manage sensitive donors, internal and employee information. Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Employee is regularly required to talk or hear; sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs and make verbal presentations to groups (between 10-200 people). Specific vision abilities required by this job include appropriate vision needed to drive as required for a valid driver’s license.
