Job Title: Vice-President of Community Impact
Status: Full Time Exempt
Immediate Supervisor: President / CEO
Job Related Experience: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years experience in public-serving institutions
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds
Basic Job Summary: The Vice-President of Community Impact will oversee United Way of Central Minnesota’s (UWCM) Impact Areas. This person will lead and collaborate with the Directors and staff in Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, Healthy Community, and Community Resilience to manage and grow the impact of UWCM’s work in our service area. The Vice-President will also lead the Investment Process, both internally and externally, while also working with Resource Development to effectively share impact stories and information with donors and stakeholders. This person will lead research and implementation of grant submissions and awards, working with the Vice-President of Finance, Grants Manager and Director of Data Integration as well as within Impact Areas to seek funding for Impact work in the community. In addition, the Vice-President will supervise initiatives within UWCM including 21CCLC, ALICE, 211, Imagination Library, Children’s Savings Program, Banks in Schools, Navigator Network, and “Safety Net” programming and funding.
Responsibilities
Key Position Responsibilities Include:
- Acquires and demonstrates expertise in United Way’s Impact Areas
- Creates a collaborative philosophy with Impact Area leadership focused on impact within the community
- Coaches and mentors staff for greater connections with partner organizations
- Works with and educates the UWCM Board on all concepts of Community Impact
- Directs Investment Process allocations, fund distribution, and strategies as they align to UWCM’s goals and values
- Works with community partners to develop and implement programming
- Serves as liaison to agency partners when appropriate
- Assesses community needs through engagement with diverse stakeholders
- Partners internally with the Finance Department and Grants Manager to seek, research, and submit viable fiscal opportunities for UWCM
- Ensures that grant deliverables are met to their fullest capacity
- Works with Resource Development to create compelling messaging to share with donors and stakeholders
- Works with the Director of Data Integration to lead and direct data collection and analysis for the organization
- Developing meaningful stories for the community from collected data
- Ability to distill complex information into succinct and understandable language
- Works with the President / CEO to research, develop, and implement projects and initiatives
- Supports the President / CEO and the organization in public policy and advocacy opportunities
- Creates a positive, optimistic, and passionate energy within the organization and the community
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years experience directly with or in conjunction with human service organizations
- Grant Writing, Reporting, and Management experience
- Knowledge of United Way funded programs and allocation process
- Excel in critical thinking and problem solving skills and strategies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google, including Excel and PowerPoint
- Work extended hours to attend evening / weekend events
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $82,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year
