GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Community Outreach Manager will support continued engagement with faith-based and grassroots partners by building strong, people-based relationships throughout the region served by United Way of Greater Cincinnati. The Community Outreach Manager will coordinate and execute the strategic vision for outward engagement across the United Way organization by working with internal and external stakeholders to successfully lead Community Engagement projects and implement policies that support and partner with the community United Way serves. The Community Outreach Manager will coordinate engagement logistics, events, and provide administrative and general support to the Chief Community Engagement Officer and the Community Engagement team.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Plan and execute multiple annual signature community initiatives that support United Way’s work, including building strategic communication and recruitment plans to meet engagement goals. Community initiatives must meet United Way criteria: leadership, alignment, measurable impact, logistical support, United Way messaging, recognition, feedback, and data capture.
  • Continuously increase and adapt knowledge of community challenges and opportunities, and work to illustrate the organization’s mission through positive community and people-based engagement experiences.
  • Coordinate logistics for community partner events, including but not limited to all Community Engagement signature events and United Way internal events that need general and administrative support.
  • Manage and execute engagement projects as assigned, ensuring all work is consistently on time and within the scope and budget of each project by monitoring progress, project timelines, and providing comprehensive documentation.
  • Support community engagement strategies and multi-year plans for existing and potential community partners, supporters, and grassroots networks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with integrated work teams to develop shared goals and engagement plans for faith-based groups, grassroots community groups, individuals, supporters, and other entities as assigned.
  • Manage relationships with internal, external, and other relevant stakeholders, including establishing / maintain relationships with third parties / vendors.
CORE COMPETENCIES: Strong relationship building skills, strategic planning and event execution, people-oriented, strong ability to communicate with individuals one-on-one and with large groups effectively, accountability to team and self, innovative mindset and approach to problem solving, project management, leadership and interpersonal skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant professional work experience (ex. Project management, customer service, social sector, volunteer management, etc.).
  • Distinguished oral and written, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills and customer service-focused workstyle.
  • Successfully manages multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Works well under deadline pressure and meets timeline requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like
  • Personal transportation required
  • Local travel to events within the regional service area required.
  • Periodic evening and weekend event management required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
SALARY:
56,000 plus competitive benefits package
