POSITION DESCRIPTION
Community Closet Program Coordinator
Director of Community Engagement
Full-time/Non-exempt – 40 hours a week; some non-business hours required
To ensure the successful operation of the Community Closet and Mobile Closet programs.
Position Summary: The Community Closet Program Coordinator supports the mission of United Way (UNITING TO THRIVE) by overseeing the daily operations of the Community Closet and Mobile Closet. This includes managing inventory, leading volunteer teams, and ensuring high-quality service for community members. Additionally, the role supports broader community engagement initiatives, including volunteer recruitment, corporate engagement, and special events.
· Community Closet:
o Oversee day-to-day operations of the Community Closet and Mobile Closet under the guidance of the Director of Community Engagement, ensuring a well-organized, welcoming environment.
o Engage and lead volunteers – coordinate schedules, provide training, and communicate regularly with individual and group volunteers.
o Drive, load, and unload the Mobile Closet truck, setting up pop-up-shopping events throughout Marathon County.
o Complete accurate record keeping with relation to the Community Closet, including inventory, client data and volunteer hours.
o Assist in program evaluation and process improvement to enhance efficiency and impact.
· Corporate Engagement:
o Support corporate and community volunteer projects, including donation drives and on-site volunteer opportunities related to the Community and Mobile Closets.
o Prepare and distribute communications to volunteers, corporate partners, and community groups via email, flyers, and other materials.
o Serve as a key point of contact for volunteers, donors, and community members, providing excellent customer service and fostering strong relationships.

- With guidance from the Director of Community Engagement, cultivate relationships and maintain regular communication with nonprofit agencies, schools, neighborhoods, and social service agencies to solicit community needs.
- Assist with United Way’s events and engagement initiatives as needed.
o Other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in human services, public relations, or another related field preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience (including an internship) in volunteer services, community relations, project management or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences, including volunteers, community members, and partners.
- Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Action-oriented and proactive problem-solver, able to take the initiative while seeking guidance when needed.
- Collaborative team player, able to work across departments and effectively lead volunteers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn donor/volunteer/client management software.
- Attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to lift and transport materials related to program operations, including donations and event supplies.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
