OVERALL PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE
This position coordinates and implements United Way of Northwest Louisiana's (UWNWLA) community engagement activities. This includes developing relationships with various community sectors to ensure continuity of relationships while connecting the sectors to community engagement with the UWNWLA. This position provides and attends strategic volunteer engagement opportunities through activities and projects with the corporate sector and coordinates annual volunteer events, outreaches and other community engagement events. This position will work with all departments to assist in fostering relationships that assist in growing each department.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and/or combination of equivalent employment and education experience preferred
- Two or more years' related work experience in nonprofits and/or other cause-related entity
- Public speaking experience
- Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) databases
- Understands the significant correlation between donors and volunteerism
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage and analyze data
- Effective interpersonal and cognitive skills (written/oral communications, logic, judgment, team work)
- Work independently and manage time effectively
- Organized, able to multitask, is results-oriented, and meets deadlines
- Ability to work outside the 8am to 5pm workday and weekends when needed
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance

This multi-faceted position involves sorting, packing, stocking, loading and unloading of program supplies; participating in community fairs, school makeover events and other off-site activities, including set-up and tear-down; driving for various assignments; assisting in projects; general maintenance of program facilities, including creating displays, hanging signage and light cleaning; managing volunteer projects, including set-up and clean-up;
and a variety of other physical tasks. These activities involve the ability to twist, pull, push, lift, (up to 50 lbs.), bend, squat, climb, walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; use of dolly and/or pallet jack (with proper training); manual dexterity for operating small tools & equipment; and visual acuity for driving and computer use.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Relationship Development
- Develops and maintains relationships related to strategic engagement with nonprofits, corporate partners, government and nongovernmental agencies, school systems, civic groups, and others as assigned
- Develops and maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with UWNWLA's
- Assist in improving knowledge of UWNWLA across communities
Strategic Volunteer Engagement
- Works with Resource Development to implement projects, determine goals and measurable outcomes and promote projects to existing and potential UWNWLA campaigns
- Coordinates nonprofit tours for companies who desire first-hand knowledge of UWNWLA funded programs
- Works with Resource Development on volunteer project recognition to ensure a high-quality experience and volunteer retention
Creative Projects
- Conducts brainstorming sessions with staff and other departments on developing creative plans, analyzing results, and identifying opportunities to develop innovative and actionable creative initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner
Leadership
- Represents UWNWLA professionally and enthusiastically
- Participates and represents UWNWLA as a center of volunteer excellence
- Regularly updates knowledge on best practices and factors affecting volunteerism, volunteer/donor relationships, and resource development
- Works effectively with staff and volunteers in the spirit of teamwork with a passion for UWNWLA's mission
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
- Number of strategic outreaches attended and hosted if any
- Quality of creative projects
- Ability to analyze and understand a desired message and create deliverables that embody the message
- Ability to meet deadlines and/or proactively adjust deadlines when needed
- Ability to communicate deadline adjustments and other pertinent information in a manner which allows an adequate amount of time for project adjustments to be made
- Ability to time manage
