JOB SUMMARY
The Relationship Manager, Strategic Partnerships, is responsible for leading United Way of San Antonio’s strategic partnership acquisition strategy—both from a fundraising and engagement perspective. This role focuses on identifying, cultivating, and securing new corporate and community partnerships to grow the number of organizations investing in United Way’s mission. The Relationship Manager develops and executes strategies to increase revenue, expand corporate engagement, and enhance community impact through meaningful, long-term partnerships.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Strategic Partnership Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to identify and secure new corporate and community partners to support United Way’s fundraising efforts and community initiatives.
- Research, prospect, and engage potential partners through networking, outreach, and relationship-building.
- Lead the development of compelling partnership proposals, presentations, and customized engagement opportunities for prospective businesses and organizations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align strategic partnership opportunities with United Way’s impact goals and initiatives.
Fundraising & Revenue Growth:
- Manage a pipeline of new strategic partnership prospects, setting goals and metrics for revenue growth.
- Secure corporate sponsorships, workplace giving commitments, and other financial contributions that align with United Way’s mission.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Resource Development to integrate new partnerships into annual campaign efforts and strategic engagement initiatives.
- Work closely with the New Business Volunteer Chairs and committee to cultivate new partnerships through their networks
Corporate & Community Engagement
- Cultivate long-term relationships with corporate leaders, decision-makers, and community stakeholders to deepen their engagement with United Way.
- Develop and implement strategies for corporate volunteer engagement and other opportunities that enhance partner involvement.
- Ensure outstanding customer service by maintaining regular communication with partners and identifying ways to enhance their partnership experience
Collaboration & Strategic Leadership
- Partner with marketing, impact, and volunteer engagement teams to create compelling opportunities for partner involvement.
- Stay informed on industry trends, economic shifts, and best practices in corporate philanthropy, business development, and strategic partnerships.
- Represent United Way at business and networking events to enhance visibility and position the organization as a key partner in corporate social responsibility efforts.
- Attend industry functions and provide feedback and information on market trends as well as strategies for UWSA to engage with new or growing industries.
- Be a passionate advocate of UWSA's mission and be able to advocate amongst our corporate partners and their employees.
- Work with the Individual Giving team to coordinate donor cultivation of individuals who have the potential to give major gifts.
- Assist with volunteer identification, recruitment, training, retention, and advancement from within assigned portfolio of corporate partners.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on updating campaign and individual donor information in CRM including, but not limited to, corporate contact(s), employee count, UWSA involvement, company processing information, engagement practices, campaign start/end dates, etc.
- Actively engage donors and prospects through established UWSA events, investment opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and advocacy. Provide appropriate follow-up to move the relationship forward
- Maintain a solid understanding of United Way programs and initiatives.
- Willingly accept strategic projects and other ancillary assignments that will enhance the effectiveness of the organization as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree – required in a related field of study.
- Two or more years of fundraising/Sales experience, with demonstrated success in cultivating a donor base/customer base.
- Experience in working effectively in multicultural environments.
- Strong relationships in the nonprofit, public and private sectors.
- Staff and volunteer management.
- Budget and fiscal management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
