UWGLV Summer Volunteer/Intern Program
United Way's Summer Experience program offers individuals the opportunity to become engaged in their communities through summer work opportunities. All assignments will help to promote the health, safety, and education of every person in the Greater Lehigh Valley and ensure that every person belongs, and every person thrives. Projects will run for 8 weeks over the summer and all participants will receive professional development and educational learning opportunities. The time commitment is Monday-Friday for 15-20 hours a week for the duration of the program.
Position Description
Summer Learning and Meals Volunteer/Intern – support Lehigh Valley Summer Learning Community Partners and the Lehigh Valley Food Policy Council to increase quality summer learning engagement and food security. Activities include:
- Raise awareness of feeding and summer learning opportunities in the Greater Lehigh Valley
- Coordinate and deliver meals through the federal summer meals program.
- Coordinate summer learning activities for low-income youth.
- Provide opportunities for family engagement through connection to learning resources.
- Collect data on federal summer meals, summer learning programs and success stories.
