Program Description: United Way Community Centers
· The Summer Learning Program is important because research reveals that children from all backgrounds tend to progress equally in school, but over summer, higher income children continue improving while low-income children flat line or fall behind. This program plays a highly impactful role in the lives of at-risk kids in Utah County by preventing summer learning loss and helping them advance in both academic and social/emotional abilities.
· We will hold one session (morning) of Summer Learning for four continuous weeks during July 2025, for children grades 1-6. We will offer reading and math classes, taught by certified teachers, with one aid who is working toward an education degree in each class. We will also offer a social/emotional class, based on a state-endorsed curriculum and taught by certified teachers and interns; STEM activities; and weekly field trips/days, directly related to the week’s STEM focus. Children will receive a free, healthy lunch and snack daily.
Position Description and Responsibilities:
We are seeking an organized and proactive Program Coordinator to lead our Summer Learning Program in American Fork, Utah. This short-term role is perfect for someone with experience in education, program coordination, or youth services. The coordinator will manage all aspects of the program, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for students, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Promotion & Registration:
· Advertise and recruit students in targeted areas of Provo and American Fork.
· Oversee the registration process and maintain accurate enrollment records.
· Organize students into age-appropriate classes.
Program Coordination & Scheduling:
· Develop class schedules that balance learning and enrichment activities.
· Oversee classroom rotations and ensure a structured daily flow.
· Plan and schedule parenting meetings and field trips.
· Manage attendance tracking and student participation.
· Plan and coordinate with other coordinators at South Franklin an annual carnival as a culminating event.
Staff & Operations Management:
· Supervise program aides and assign daily responsibilities.
· Oversee STEM activities, break times, and behavior management.
· Coordinate food distribution in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club.
· Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, addressing any logistical or student-related issues.
· Purchase supplies needed for classes, field trips, and activities.
· Work with the Community Center Manager and Coordinator to ensure program policies and facility guidelines are followed.
· Open and close the program daily and oversee cleaning and facility maintenance.
Data Collection & Reporting:
· Administer and input data from pre- and post-reading, math, and social/emotional assessments.
· Distribute parent and student surveys to assess program impact.
· Analyze and evaluate program data to identify successes and areas for improvement.
· Compile an annual report summarizing program outcomes for staff, stakeholders, and United Way Board Members.
Minimum Requirements:

● Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
● Willing to take initiatives on projects
● Spanish speaking abilities preferable
● Great organizational skills and attention to detail
● Ability to participate in collaborative teamwork among staff, interns and other volunteers
Benefits and Compensation: Hourly rate for $ 18.75/hour
Work Schedule: Must commit to a minimum of June 2-27th Part-Time (20 hours flexible per week) – June 27-August 8, 2025, Full-time (30 hours per week) weeks of full-time work. Position based in South Franklin Community Center, Provo, UT. Start date June 2, through August 8th. 8 weeks
