POSITION SUMMARYUnited We Dream (UWD) is looking for passionate and self-motivated Campaigns Intern to join our internship program. In collaboration with the campaigns and advocacy team, interns will research, develop, and support the implementation of campaigns that advance UWD’s immigration justice goals at the state and federal level. These campaigns will focus on combating disinformation, protecting immigrant communities from deportation and detention, and advancing pro-immigrant policies through legislative and administrative advocacy.
The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to UWD’s mission, interested in learning the mechanics of campaign development, and eager to contribute to campaigns that elevate the voices of immigrant youth. This is a remote, part-time position.
CURRICULUM & LEARNING OUTCOMESThe internship will provide both professional and educational opportunities. Interns will participate in interactive workshops and training led by UWD’s advocacy, communications, and political teams. Below are some of the key skills and concepts interns will develop and apply throughout the program:
Concepts:- The role of issue based campaigns in social movements
- Planning successful issue based campaigns
- Immigration policy and legislative process
- Narrative strategy and combating disinformation
- The intersection of people power, policy, and politics
- Inside-outside strategy and movement building
- Immigrants Rights: A Racial & Social Justice Issue
- Development of campaign plans
- Conducting campaign research
- Writing and developing materials, including facts sheets and presentations
- Understanding digital advocacy and communications strategies
- Project management
- Support the implementation of campaigns: Assist in researching, planning, and executing issue based campaigns that advances justice for immigrants .
- Support the development of strategic partnerships. Attend meetings with partner organizations to build strategic partnerships and push organizational priorities. You may also be asked to help prepare for, attend and support in meetings.
- Support in the development of campaign curriculum: review current campaign curriculum, update it and create training materials for membership.
- Develop innovative tactics: utilize key campaign moments to develop and lead the implementation of campaign activity such as actions.
- Conduct research on team projects. You may be asked to support strategic team projects on a case-by-case basis.
- Participate in team meetings and organizational events: Attend advocacy team meetings, contribute to discussions, and represent the internship cohort in broader organizational meetings.
- Knowledge of and commitment to immigrant rights issue based organizing
- Strong research and writing skills, with attention to detail
- Passion for UWD’s mission and a desire to deepen knowledge of issue based campaigns
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage partner relationships and coalition spaces
- Familiarity with digital tools like Zoom, Slack, and Google Suite
- Although not required, a major plus if you are multilingual
- Strong understanding of the immigrant experience
- Understanding of race, gender, sexuality, and other aspects of identity, and how they intersect with immigration justice
- Self-awareness of personal identities and ability to adapt approaches as needed
- Ability to build strong relationships and trust across race, gender, class, and other identities, both internally and externally
Interns will receive a stipend of $20 per hour and will be expected to commit 15 hours per week for 12 weeks. A regular work schedule can be coordinated with the supervisor.
LOCATIONAs UWD is a remote-first workplace, this is a fully remote position. We have a preference to hire in states where we already have employees working from home: AZ, DC, CT, CA, FL, IL, MO, NJ, NM, NY, OK, SC, and TX.
