Summary
The Infrastructure Engineer position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the foundational technology systems that support the United Wheels IT infrastructure. This role involves working with hardware, software, network systems, and cloud services to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage network infrastructure including Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as Meraki networking equipment.
- Monitor and maintain network performance to ensure high levels of availability and security.
- Troubleshoot network-related issues promptly and effectively across multiple global offices.
- Implement and manage security protocols, firewall policies, and VPN connections.
- Collaborate with the IT team to plan and execute network upgrades and new installations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
- Manage user access controls and network configurations.
- Support disaster recovery and backup procedures.
- Assist in capacity planning and network optimization initiatives.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools for reporting, documentation, and collaboration.
- Management and maintain on-premise server infrastructure, including VMWare and Microsoft Server environments.
- Manage and maintain on-premise storage infrastructure.
- Maintain backup infrastructure

Education and/or Experience
- A passion for Cycling and the Outdoors!
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with Meraki networking equipment.
- Experience building and supporting Linux and Windows servers
- Experience with global mail routing and settings
- Experience with global site-to-site VPN setup and configurations
- Understanding and how to apply standard security principals including certificate base authentication and MFA.
- Experience with Veeam Backup and Replication and Veeam One software solutions.
- Proven experience with managing Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and security controls.
