Fair Lending Officer

 

At UWM, our Fair Lending Officer will aid in the assessment and remediation of risks associated with applicable fair lending laws. You will get in the weeds with respect to our HMDA data and oversee the fair lending program.  Plus, with the assistance of our third-party vendor, you will perform periodic analysis and lending and denial activity to document and address fair lending risks.  This position is a great opportunity to show off your data knowledge and skills as an industry expert in data and fair lending risk assessment.

 

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with residential mortgage lending data and a deep understanding of statistics principles, specifically as they pertain to fair lending.

 

This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel & Consumer Advocate.

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
• Experience analyzing data and preparing reports
• Strong computer, problem solving and communication skills
• Comfortable in a fast-moving environment
• Ability to multitask and adapt
• Onsite, full-time attendance
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent organizational skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Preferred:

• 3 years of fair lending compliance experience
• Mortgage or financial services industry experience

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Establishing and maintaining a collaborative working relationship with lending personnel
• Collecting and preparing data file for fair lending analysis
• In conjunction with a third-party vendor, conducting periodic analysis of lending and denial activity to identify, document and address fair lending risks
• Assisting in updating and overseeing the fair lending program, policies and procedures
• Developing and maintaining training materials for company-wide team member training as well as additional training specifically tailored to certain lending functions
• Maintaining current knowledge of lending products, programs, operations, systems and controls
• Assisting other compliance team members with the coordination of regulatory compliance exams and audits as necessary
• Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned
