Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of detection engineers, providing guidance and support to enhance their technical skills and effectiveness in developing detection capabilities.
Design and implement detection strategies and frameworks that align with the organization’s security objectives, ensuring effective identification of potential threats and vulnerabilities.
Develop, test, and refine detection rules, signatures, and use cases for security information and event management (SIEM) systems and other security technologies to improve threat detection accuracy.
Leverage threat intelligence feeds and sources to enhance detection capabilities, ensuring that the team's strategies evolve in response to emerging threats and attack techniques.
Work closely with incident response, security operations, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of detection capabilities into broader security practices and incident response workflows.
Monitor and analyze detection performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of detection strategies, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices in detection engineering, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of detection rules, processes, and methodologies, and provide regular reports on detection activities and incidents to senior management.
Facilitate training and development opportunities for team members, enhancing their skills in detection engineering, threat hunting, and security analysis.
