WellMed, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Mission clinic on Ware Road in McAllen, TX. Optum is a clinician-led care organization that is changing the way clinicians work and live.
Position Highlights:
- Quality vs. quantity – typically see 14 to 16 patients per day (30 min per visit)
- Instead of RVU or volume metrics, our providers are measured and rewarded on quality of care
- Start with 160 hours PTO in first year, plus 5 days of CME, plus 8 national holidays and 1 floating holiday
- Strong clinical support team that includes RNs, LVNs, MAs, nurse educators, case managers, clinic administrators, referral managers, coders, centralized scheduling, nurse advice line, and robust IT
- Collaborate with our primary care physicians (IM & FM), hospitalists, and network of employed/contracted sub-specialists

Required Qualifications:
- Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Physician Assistant license by the Texas State Medical Board
- Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
- 1 year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant
- Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency
Preferred Qualifications:
- A working understanding and support of a manage care environment
The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $166,500 per year based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
