We are seeking a highly qualified attorney to assume a leadership role within the UnitedHealthcare legal department. This position will focus on supporting out-of-network reimbursement and oversee the implementation of the No Surprises Act.

Primary Responsibilities
- Act as internal counsel on the No Surprises Act and its rulemaking
- Act as internal counsel on state law regarding out-of-network reimbursement
- Act as internal counsel on preemption issues associated with the No Surprise Act and out-of-network reimbursement
- Provide internal counsel across the organization on out-of-network reimbursement.
- Provide internal counsel on the resolution of pre-litigation, pre-arbitration out-of-network disputes
- Provide internal counsel on state and federal arbitration proceedings involving out-of-network disputes, including brief writing for such proceedings
- Provide leadership and support to team members, cultivating a cooperative and high-performing work environment
- Assist in responding to third-party inquiries about out-of-network reimbursement and compliance with the No Surprises Act
- Support the execution of post-payment settlement agreements
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Current license to practice law in one or more US jurisdictions
- 8 years of relevant professional legal experience in an attorney capacity
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
- Understanding of health insurance and managed care industry
- Proven expertise, judgement and presence to advise senior leadership on legal matters
- Proven success in collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment
- Proven ability to drive results
- Proven well-developed written and verbal communications skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates and external company contacts
- Experience in a leadership or managerial role
- Experience with No Surprises Act
- Experience managing pre-litigation matters
- Experience with healthcare regulatory agencies
- Understanding of healthcare benefit coverage

Salary : $124,500 - $239,400
