As a Director of Actuarial Services, you will manage projects involving complex Stop Loss mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling. The role requires an ability to communicate effectively well with all levels of healthcare organization technical and non-technical staff, be a self-starter and to manage large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives.
The challenges here are significant. You'll be responsible for the ownership of the pricing support for an innovative, high profile and high visibility UHG product, including managing large projects, complex work streams and providing actuarial direction and influencing strategy with a variety of business partners. You'll be counted on as an SME in Stop Loss pricing analytics and responsible for the work product at a high level.

Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Sales/Underwriting/Finance senior leadership to develop/influence Stop Loss pricing, block management, and risk selection strategy
- Provide actuarial direction and strategic analysis to balance growth & profitability goals on Stop Loss & Captive related products
- Become a subject matter expert on and define best practices for risk selection/quantification via internal & external predictive analytic tools
- Design an expanded competitive intelligence process
- Build performance analytics and success benchmarks
- Engage in ad hoc manual rate and pricing analyses
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 8 years of Actuarial/Analytical/Data Science/Healthcare experience
- Hands-on experience in building actuarial models in Excel
- Experience interacting with and influencing senior management
- Background with healthcare claims experience (i.e., understanding of cost drivers, developing expected claims, benefit pricing, etc.)
- Proven excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven problem-solving skills (identification of issue, causes, solution, implementation plan)
- Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation
- Experience working with Stop Loss, Captive arrangements, and/or Level Funded products
- Experience managing and/or mentoring actuarial analysts
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, R, Python, Power BI)

Salary : $124,500 - $239,400
