Overall purpose:
UnitedLex is adding a Senior Manager of Syndicated Loan Closing to our growing LexLoan team! The position will operate within UnitedLex’s LexLoan Financial Services office in Durham, NC. They will be responsible for owning trades that are assigned end to end. Liaise with counterparties and administrative agents on New Issue (Primary Trades), PAR (Secondary Trades) and Distressed Secondary Trades. Manage amendments, non-pro-rata paydown, and other corporate action events.
Team members across the hierarchy of the team will be expected to be client focused, have strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment both with internal team members and various stake holders within the client. The ability to build strong relationships will be expected. Team members should be able to work independently yet be able to seek advice and support from peers and senior team members when needed proactively.
This position will primarily be Work from Office (WFO) given the nature of business and the client driven security policies and requirements. Work hours would be generally 8am to 5pm with weekends off. We welcome applicants from the Durham, North Carolina commutable area.
Job Description:
- Owning and Closing of LSTA New Issue, PAR and Distressed Trades.
- Review underlying credit agreements to determine the correct form of assignment of the debt and to ensure that all transfer criteria can be met.
- Settle trades via ClearPar or on paper documents, where required.
- In the case of trades to be settled on paper documents, prepare draft trade confirmations, transfer documents and pricing letters (amongst others).
- Manage the loan trade lifecycle post trade execution and coordinate trade settlements in the Syndicated and Secondary Loan Market.
- Troubleshoot, escalate, and solve problems that arise from trade discrepancies.
- Maintain, track, and prioritize all unsettled loan trades.
- Facilitate amendments, non-pro-rata paydowns, and Credit events.
- Liaise with front office, legal counsel, tax departments and back office to ensure timely settlements.
- Co-ordinate and resolve any post trade settlement issues and cash queries with back office and trading counterparties.
- Collaborate with teammates to streamline processes and create efficiencies.
- Experience in trade operations processes and servicing bank loans.
- Ensuring timely delivery of internal and external reports.
- Liaise with the front office, when required, to facilitate pre-trade arrangements.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree in financial services will be an added advantage.
- Should have a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience.
- Thorough understanding of the LSTA’s Standard Terms and Conditions.
- LMA markets experience will be a good advantage, but a basic understanding of LMA Standard Terms is required for Cross Border Trades.
- High proficiency in ClearPar and LoanIQ. Experience in ACBS, WSO and ither market tools will be an advantage.
- Eye for detail and the ability to collaborate and work with global teams.
- Strong analytical skills. Should be comfortable handing large data sets and be able to analyze and drive conclusions.
- Ability to execute personal time management adhering to deadlines and proactively manage conflicting priorities.
- Proficient or excel in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and industry related platforms like LoanIQ, ClearPar, etc. will be an added advantage.
- Strong client service and customer orientation.
- Ability to proactively and effectively manage people and global teams reporting to this position.
- Ability to independently present thoughts and presentations of ideas with peers and management.
- Good organizational skills, ability to manage multiple assignments at once, and meet deadlines.

Salary Range
The salary range for this role reflects the range of factors that inform case-by-case compensation decisions including education, experience, training, licensure, certification, and geography as well as the business and organizational needs specific to the role. Compensation ranges may be broad, reflecting flexibility within the budget and title to consider candidates of varied experience. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this role is 80,000 to 100,000 per year. Select roles are additionally eligible for Incentive Compensation in the form of our Annual Performance Bonus Program.
