Job Description

We are looking for a PHYSICAL THERAPIST - to join our PTA program as a full-time Assistant Professor. No teaching experience is required as the curriculum is established and new faculty have an established training process.

This position requires being. A passion of teaching people...either patients or new employees, if you get a sense of satisfaction when their eyes light up in the A-HA! Moment, then, this opportunity is a natural progression. 

This is an opportunity to be part of a growing program from the ground up as it has just been approved by CAPTE to expand to the Tucson campus. The program is already successful and established at our Phoenix campus, so a robust support system is in place.

Faculty will:

  • DISTANCE EDUCATION/RESIDENTIAL INSTRUCTION

  • Maintain a teaching load per semester, as assigned at the time of the offer.
  • Maintain and demonstrate subject matter expertise.
  • Apply established teaching criteria and procedures and curriculum to support student learning.
  • Employ a diverse education teaching methodology to drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) as a tool to deliver course content and provide formative feedback to learners.
  • Partner with the program director to improve the design of core courses within the program.
  • LEARNER RETENTION

  • Monitor/track student retention using course attendance records.
  • Implement data-driven student retention improvement strategies to achieve course benchmarks.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to identify and address challenges that impact student success and retention.
  • Monitor student progress and provide support and resources to help students overcome academic or personal challenges.
  • Collaborate with campus support services, such as tutoring and academic advising, to provide comprehensive support for students in the program.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of retention initiatives and programs to enhance student success.
  • PROMOTE EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING      

  • Remain proficient in all aspects of course or curricula content, learning outcomes, and assessment activities to achieve course goals.
  • Teach courses as assigned within the maximum number of contact hours allowed.
  • Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the teaching discipline.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different techniques, including education methodology and pedagogy.
  • Aid in planning, development, and maintenance of program curriculum
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course goals; inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to program or course managers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain student records of attendance or skill competency documents as needed.
  • Partner with the program director to resolve student appeals.
  • Attend faculty meetings at the cadence determined by the program director.
  • Engage and document participation in professional development and in-service training for learning management systems, pedagogy, and education teaching methodologies.
  • Ensure all learning spaces and lab equipment are safe and conducive to learning.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, and the community.
  • Maintain compliance with policies and procedures within the employee handbook, program handbooks (as applicable), and department directives.
  • Coordinate and balance the needs of a diverse student population.

Qualifications

  • Licensed PT in the State of Arizona.
  • A minimum of an associate degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and academic preparation in the specific courses being taught.
  • Three (3) years of post-licensure clinical experience
