Leadership & Strategic Oversight:
The Vice President of Project Operations will be a key executive responsible for overseeing all aspects of project operations within the company. This includes managing project teams, ensuring seamless coordination between departments, building strong internal teams, maintaining effective client relationships, and driving continuous improvements in project execution. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial HVAC construction, a proven track record in managing large-scale projects, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to meet operational objectives.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Oversight:
- Lead and manage all aspects of project operations, including planning, execution, and completion of HVAC large projects.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategic goals and objectives for project operations.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all projects.
- Provide direction and leadership to project managers, engineers, field supervisors, and support teams.
- Participate in Quarterly Board Meetings as needed and Corporate Off-Site meetings, providing operational insights and progress updates.
- Oversee and ensure the successful execution of large HVAC projects from inception to completion.
- Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure projects are completed within scope, on time, and on budget throughout the company.
- Implement the process of coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure seamless communication and resolution of any issues that may arise during project execution.
- Manage the scope of work, change orders, and contract negotiations to align with project goals and client expectations for UBS customers.
- Work closely with Regional Operations Managers, Controllers and Corporate CFO to develop yearly budgets, adjust forecasts, and ensure timely financial reporting and oversight.
- Work with Regional Controllers and Corporate CFO to manage cash flow, oversee monthly project billing, and ensure the timely collection of A/R.
- Collaborate with Regional Operations Managers to ensure a timely monthly close, requiring strong familiarity with the WIP process and cost-based accounting.
- Monitor financial performance and proactively identify areas for improvement to maximize profitability and operational efficiency.
- Mentor, train, and develop project management staff and other operational team members to improve their skills and ensure alignment with company standards and goals.
- Provide support for career development and professional growth within the project management team.
- Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and implement consistent best practices for project management, risk mitigation, and resource management.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize project workflows to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
- Leverage technology and innovative solutions to improve project tracking, reporting, and performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and successful project outcomes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on project-related matters and ensure that all client expectations are met or exceeded.
- Monitor project progress and address any client concerns or issues in a timely manner.
- Proactively identify potential project risks (e.g., budget, scheduling, safety) and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that all projects comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial HVAC construction, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing project operations.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale HVAC or construction projects from start to finish.
- Strong background in project management methodologies and construction processes, particularly in the HVAC sector.
- Exceptional leadership, team building, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
- Excellent knowledge of construction project management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar project budgets.
- In-depth understanding of HVAC systems, commercial construction practices, and industry regulations.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Ability to travel as needed to remote operating companies, project sites, and client meetings.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certifications are preferred but not required.
