Provide both inventory management and strategic procurement guidance for local operations (gas) teams across the Unitil subsidiaries. Assist in sourcing materials, supplies, tools, and services for Unitil operating companies. Help establish and maintain inventory and procurement practices focused on achieving the financial and operational goals set forth by the operations teams. Work closely with material vendors to reduce on hand inventory costs while maintaining adequate levels of construction and emergency materials. Assist in preparing, conducting and overseeing physical inventories throughout affiliate companies’ material storage locations. Oversee compliance requirements related to financial audits and regulatory audits. Provide both strategic and tactical materials management solutions for local operations teams’ Supply Chain needs. Foster an environment of safety for oneself, co-workers, direct reports, contractors, and vendors involved in Supply Chain processes.

Operational performance: Ensures reliable and effective service to all of Unitil operational and support departments in order to meet and exceed company expectations.
- Coordinate and conduct regular inventory cycle counts, as well as, the physical inventory counts as mandated per Company requirements and good financial practice
- Researching, evaluating and reconciling all inventory variances to determine the cause of discrepancies in the inventory balances and counts, within assigned Distribution Operations Centers.
- Maintains communication with internal and external contacts to continuously improve and analyze new products and improve organization and safety practices in the stockroom/yard environments.
- Maintain inventory control procedures in accordance with FERC directives and established Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Researches and resolves escalated problems and inventory variances as they arise in a timely manner with department manager.
Financial Controls: Takes ownership for controls monitoring, risk assessments and controls and oversees activities that are integral to good business practice and implements corrective action and improvements as required to ensure compliance with accounting and audit parameters.
- Identify areas of improvement for forecasting delivery and issuing accuracy in order to facilitate efficient flow of materials.
- Work with suppliers on obsolescence, schedule and document issues, track materials into and out of the facility, as needed physically inspect materials to return to vendor.
- Work with engineering and local operations personnel to identify obsolete materials, slow moving items, and responsible for the storage, transfer and disposal of these materials.
- Analyze data, and prepare consolidated reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution.

- Confronts issues, addresses conflicts resolves problems and recommends competent solutions, which may sometimes require a principled and unpopular stance.
- Responsible for supervising the warehouse team(s) that manages materials and supplies used to support Gas operations divisions.
- Special projects assignment and other unplanned opportunities as requested by management to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Unitil’s utility operations and support functions
- Bachelor of Science Degree in curriculum compatible with the requirements or 5 years experience in a distribution utility materials related environment involving increasing levels of responsibility is or equivalent experience preferred. Two to three years of experience directly related to inventory control, logistics operations or related supply chain functions, is required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license based on the requirements of the State where the employee resides and travel will be required between operating centers.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills and the ability to think strategically solve problems and work independently.
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Project a positive and professional approach with the highest levels of integrity in area of responsibility.
- Ability to work the PC system software efficiently and generate high quality and detailed reports
- Must be available to work extended hours as assigned, possibly at secondary locations, in response to Facilities or System wide emergencies.
