Job Title : Senior Network EngineerJob Location : Colorado Springs, COEducation : Bachelor’s (BS) degree in technical studies such as computer science, information systems, and technologies, programming, or electronic engineering. This education is not a requirement but may be a substitute for years of experience. Clearance : An active DoD Secret Clearance is required.DescriptionConfigure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators, andIBM DataPower Gateways.Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal throughput and reliability.Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using tools such as firewall logs, switch packet capture tools, and Wireshark, collaborating with cross-functional teams when necessary.Conduct network capacity planning and bandwidth management to accommodate growth and changing business needs.Collaborate with other teams to integrate network infrastructure with cloud services, storage systems, and other IT components.Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, recommending their adoption as appropriate.Create and maintain documentation for network configurations, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior network engineers.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesIn-depth understanding of enterprise-scale network design, implementation, and management.Proficiency in network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS / IPS, VPNs, and secure remote access solutions.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.Knowledge of network capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization strategies.Familiarity with integrating network infrastructure with cloud services and storage systems.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and cross-team collaboration.Required SkillsBachelor’s degree (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).Minimum of 12 years of experience in a related field.Active Secret Clearance.Certification in one of the following : Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE)Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Availability for on-site work if required.Strong team player with the ability to work proactively and independently in mission-critical operations across geographically diverse locations.Desired SkillsExperience mentoring and leading junior engineers.Familiarity with advanced tools for troubleshooting network issues, including Wireshark and switch packet capture tools.Continuous learner with a strong drive to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
