Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our client's team and play a key role in managing, maintaining, and enhancing our enterprise-scale network infrastructure. This role requires expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network environments to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network technologies, security protocols, and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators and IBM DataPower Gateways.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure maximum throughput and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using tools such as firewall logs, switch packet capture tools, and Wireshark, while collaborating with cross-functional teams for support.
- Conduct network capacity planning and bandwidth management to address future growth and evolving business requirements.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate network infrastructure with cloud services, storage systems, and other IT components.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and networking best practices, and recommend their adoption when beneficial.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network configurations, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior network engineers.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- Experience: At least 12 years of experience in network engineering or related roles.
- Clearance: An active Secret Clearance is required.
- Certifications: Must possess at least one of the following:
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE)
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale networks.
- Hands-on experience with IBM DataPower Gateway, including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and secure remote access.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle multiple projects effectively.
- Flexibility to be available for on-site work as needed.
- Strong communication skills, team-oriented mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in cloud networking and integration with platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN and software-defined networking (SDN) technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of network automation tools and scripting.
