Cremation Operator Specialist Overview
We are seeking a Cremation Operator Specialist to deliver exceptional service and products while meeting the needs of the families we serve and our third-party funeral home partners. In this role, you will operate the crematory, manage the transportation of decedents and cremated remains, maintain a safe and clean workspace, and handle additional tasks as directed by the Manager.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Treat all descendants with respect and dignity.
- Uphold the core values of Unity Crematory.
- Operate and maintain the on-site crematory, including daily monitoring, tracking of crematory activity, and addressing any environmental and air quality concerns.
- Process and package cremated remains with care.
- Coordinate the transfer of decedents and cremated remains efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation with keen attention to detail.
- Ensure the crematory area and facility are clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements during job duties.
- Comply with all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Leavitt Funeral Service Group.
- Stay up-to-date with company learning, policies, and procedures as required.
Educational, Licensure, and Skill Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License and compliance with the driving performance standards set by management.
- Ability to obtain certification as a crematory operator.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff, management, and families.
Essential Physical Responsibilities
This role involves exposure to high heat and noise levels. You should be able to occasionally lift, push, and pull objects up to 600 pounds with assistance. Manual dexterity is needed for clerical tasks. The position requires occasional stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds for short distances.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour
