Job Overview:
As a Cardiac Sonographer, you'll perform cardiac ultrasound services for adult patients, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress tests. You'll help diagnose and assess cardiac conditions, prepping patients, reviewing images, and working with physicians to ensure accurate results. You’ll be part of a team providing high-quality care, assisting in a range of procedures, and helping to maintain equipment and lab protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures with a variety of equipment and techniques.
- Identify cardiac abnormalities, adjust imaging techniques, and ensure accurate and high-quality results.
- Assist physicians in operating rooms and procedure rooms by performing echocardiogram studies.
- Prepare patients for procedures and obtain relevant clinical history.
- Perform routine maintenance and report equipment malfunctions.
- Provide training and support to fellow staff, physicians, and students.
- Ensure adherence to quality protocols and assist in IAC accreditation activities.
Key Success Factors:
- Knowledge of sonographic principles, cardiac anatomy, and physiology.
- Strong communication skills to explain procedures to patients and collaborate with the medical team.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols and patient confidentiality laws.
- Ability to work with computers and medical equipment.
- Expertise in applying approved clinical protocols for cardiovascular ultrasound exams.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited sonography program or 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS), or BLS within 30 days of hire.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification within 6 months of hire.
