1. Education : Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field required. Experience can be used in lieu of degree. State-issued boiler license is required. Plumber license is preferred.
2. Training and Experience : Ten (10) years engineering experience in a health care setting with at least three (5) years supervisory experience preferred.
3. Job Knowledge : Knowledge of installation, construction, and maintenance of equipment, utilities, and buildings. Must be familiar enough with physical plant and equipment to direct employees in their work. Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
4. Safety Sensitive : YES

DESCRIPTION :
Directs and organizes all activities of Plant Operations for all Unity Health facilities. Ensures policies, procedures, standards and services in regards to hospital repairs, preventative maintenance, general maintenance, bio-medical services, equipment and utility testing and evaluation are consistent with hospital goals and objectives. Responsible for ensuring that the quality, safety and integrity of these departments are monitored and evaluated. Manages new construction & renovation projects ensuring contractual provisions and construction schedules are met and satisfy established standards of Unity Health policy and government regulations and codes; acts as liaison among Hospital Administrators, Engineers and Architects in conjunction with new construction projects. Serves as Unity Health’s Safety Officer.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS :
May encounter a combination of strenuous activities, such as lifting, climbing, bending and standing on feet majority of day. Exposed to hazardous situations daily. Must have the ability to react quickly in emergency situations and handle stress appropriately. Must have the ability to communicate well with hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
