Job Title: Director of Acute Care Services
Location: Missoula, MT
Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced Director of Acute Care Services to oversee and manage the acute care departments, including ICU/PCU, Medical/Surgical, and Rehab Nursing Units. This full-time position (0.8 - 1.0 FTE) requires leadership skills to ensure quality patient care, efficient staffing, and smooth operations. The Director will work closely with other leaders and the nursing team to meet hospital goals and improve patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Lead and guide the team in training, education, and day-to-day operations.
- Staffing: Work with the Acute Care Manager to ensure the right number of qualified nurses are scheduled for each shift.
- Hiring & Evaluations: Help interview new hires and evaluate current staff performance.
- Quality & Safety: Ensure patient care meets high standards and that safety guidelines are followed.
- Policy & Procedures: Help update hospital policies and procedures.
- Budget Management: Oversee and manage department budgets to ensure resources are used efficiently.
- Collaboration: Work with the leadership team, physicians, and staff to improve patient care and solve problems.
- Visibility: Regularly visit units to check in with staff and ensure everything is running smoothly.
- Problem-Solving: Address challenges and support the team with solutions.
Must-Haves (Required Qualifications):
- Union experience is required.
- 5 years of experience in an Acute Care leadership role.
- Must have experience as an RN in Med/Surg or ICU.
Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience as a Unit Level Director.
- Success in working with physicians and improving processes.
- 2 years of experience as a bedside RN (working directly with patients).
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or eligible for nursing licensure in Montana (MT).
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Leadership/Management preferred.
- Required certifications: ACLS, ONS, and Healthcare Provider BLS (within 3 months of hire).
- Specialty certifications are preferred.
Skills Needed:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other related software.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
