Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Medical Dosimetrist II to join our dynamic radiation oncology team in Central Texas. This senior role will involve creating and optimizing radiation treatment plans to support cancer patient care. You will work primarily in the Killeen location but will also support clinics in Temple, TX. As part of the dosimetry team, you’ll have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology, including the Varian True beam and the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system. Additionally, you will contribute to the education of physics residents and dosimetry students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review patients' medical histories and verify physician’s treatment plan/prescription.
- Design treatment plans using computer and/or manual computations that limit loss of healthy organ function while delivering the prescribed radiation dose.
- Communicate treatment plans to Radiation Oncologists for approval and ensure implementation with Radiation Therapists.
- Create and maintain accurate treatment records and outcomes.
- Ensure all radiation oncology equipment is functioning correctly and establish proper settings for each procedure.
- Develop molds, casts, and other immobilization devices to ensure precise treatment delivery.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols, and follow regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in clinical research and process improvement for cancer treatment techniques.
- Maintain certification and licensure as required, and ensure continuous professional development.
- Provide patient interaction as needed, ensuring compassionate care.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited program in Medical Dosimetry or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Dosimetrist.
- Certifications:
- Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB).
- Experience with the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of radiation oncology and medical physics to create accurate treatment plans.
- Excellent skills in algebra, trigonometry, and basic calculus.
- Ability to work with complex dosimetry equipment and perform quality assurance.
- Ability to visualize three-dimensional objects to facilitate treatment planning.
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and the rules and regulations of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
- Positive patient interaction and communication skills.
