- Education : The Medical Staff Coordinator must have at least an associate's degree or higher in HIM or another Healthcare Management field. CPMSM Certification is preferred. Must obtain certification in a reasonable period following completion. Must be knowledgeable of medical staff services in a healthcare facility general hospital function and should have a good working relationship with the medical staff and hospital associates.
- Training, Experience and Job Knowledge : The Medical Staff Coordinator must be extraordinarily organized, task-oriented, proactive and deadline driven. The successful candidate will have knowledge of all departmental operations, maintenance, regulatory agency criteria, and Quality Assurance / Performance Improvement concerning the Department. Must possess the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a high level of professionalism. Must be capable of preparing comprehensive reports. Must be self-motivated, possess computer skills, and be able to delegate responsibilities. Proficient in Excel, Word Processing, Presentation and database applications. Preferred two years’ experience in medical staff / credentialing office in a healthcare facility.

DESCRIPTION :
Responsible for management of the medical staff services which includes the credentialing process and medical staff committees / documentation. The Medical Staff Coordinator must be a person of integrity who works with all levels of management and the Medical Staff. He / She must be prepared to advance with changing trends and must continually strive for improvement. Must be knowledgeable in the medical field as well as its legal requirements, including state and federal regulations, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.
