Job Title: Patient Care Technician (PCT)
Summary:
A PCT is responsible for performing phlebotomy, EKGs and filing. Draws blood and transports to lab; collecting and receiving in proper manner.
Responsibilities:
- Performs direct and indirect care duties under the guidance and direction of the RN and LPN
- Activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; elimination needs; and tasks delegated by the primary licensed nurse
- Performs skilled procedures under the supervision of the licensed nurse
- Cleans occupied and unoccupied patient areas and maintains an environment that is neat and free of hazards to the patient's wellbeing
- Assists with clerical tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an approved PCT program or completed Unity Health PCA II Course
- Training performing EKGs and phlebotomy preferred or time on the job training
- Knowledge of basic non-technical skills as acquired through on-the-job training
Working Conditions:
- Maintains good physical and emotional wellbeing
- Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work
- Lifting and moving patients, pushing carts, wheelchairs and other equipment up to 50 pounds
- Significant amount of writing and computer entry
