QUALIFICATIONS :
- Education : Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing. Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program specializing in psychiatry / mental health.
- License : Must be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Must have an unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Arkansas. Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license.
- Preferred Experience : One to two years providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders.
- Skills : The PMHNP must possess effective communication skills and must demonstrate leadership ability and interest in professional growth. Must be readily adaptable to changing physician / practice demands, without deterioration under stress; and must have a basic concept of customer service, scheduling, and counseling. The PMHNP must possess demonstrated knowledge, training and skills necessary and appropriate to the patient-specific population. PMHNP must be able to set priorities and effectively delegate / coordinate interdisciplinary care based on the needs of the patient and clinic.
- Working Relationships : Ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals involved in all aspects of treatment including, but not limited to : patients, family members, case workers, referral sources, and all Unity Health associates. Must be willing to display courtesy, tact, consideration, respect and discretion in the interactions with others. Also, must possess the ability to make independent decisions and function with minimal supervision.
- Performance & Competency : Must successfully demonstrate competency in field and work environment on a continuous basis—including age-specific competencies, clinical competencies and organization-wide competencies such as fire, infection control, emergencies, etc.). Performance will be measured and routinely evaluated with clinical administrative staff as required.
- Safety Sensitive : YES In the interest of protecting the health and safety of all patients, associates, and guests, Unity Health has classified some positions as “safety sensitive.” A “safety sensitive” position is any job position in which impaired performance could result in harm to the health and / or safety of self or others. Any associate that is actively engaged in the use of medical marijuana, even if in possession of a valid medical marijuana card, will be excluded from employment in a “safety sensitive” position.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Maintains good physical and emotional wellbeing. Job responsibilities require some amount of physical capabilities including, but not limited to : a significant amount of writing and computer entry, ambulate throughout the clinic, occasional assistance with pushing wheelchairs or escorting patients, lifting or pushing of up to 50 lbs. The individual will be required to sit for extended periods of time. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. The position has minimal exposure to malodorous odors and minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents. Exposure to infectious wastes and body fluids may mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles.
