What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rad Tech Medical Sonographer Reg, PRN, Weekends position at Unity Health?
1. Education: Graduate of accredited school of ultrasonography or radiologic technology; DMS registered preferred. Must have 1 year ultrasound experience or appropriate on the job training to be eligible for the Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
2. Training and Experience: Prior experience preferred; extensive on the job training.
3. Job Knowledge: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas. Flexibility to work overtime as needed as well as on-call duty and disaster work as required by workload and/or unforeseen circumstances; must display a good understanding of age-related developmental issues of Neonate, Infants, Adolescence, Adult, and Geriatric; ability to follow oral and written instructions; communicate with patients, visitors and employees within the organization.
4. Safety Sensitive: YES

DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment for the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision.
Physical Effort: Moderate amount of lifting and positioning of patients and equipment. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Position requires ability to frequently lift objects heavier than 50 lbs., perform difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills, walk and stand for prolonged periods, see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Majority of time spent in ultrasound laboratory with 10% portable examinations. Employee may frequently be exposed to blood, body fluids/tissues and electromagnetic radiation as in CRT’s (VDT’s).
Mental Effort: Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to the concepts behind specific ideas and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time, able to communicate verbally using advanced level of vocabulary.
