What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Solutions (Collections) Specialist - Bilingual Spanish position at Unity One Credit Union?
Primary Objective of Position
To optimize our collection efforts and collect past due debts in an effective and timely manner without adversely affecting relations with members whenever possible. The ultimate goal of maintaining our delinquency ratio and charge offs at or below industry standards.
Major Areas of Accountability
1. Interviews borrowers with payment problems to establish a planned and systematic means for payments on account to bring current.
2. Maintains administrative details relating to attorney reports, referred accounts, bankruptcies, etc.
3. Maintains administrative details and reporting at direction of Collections Manager.
4. Maintain a detailed written record of all communications made regarding delinquency.
5. Complies with credit union collection policies in conformity with the Board of Directors guidelines to optimize collection performance.
6. Monitors checking accounts for excessive NSF activity and negative balances and sends notices to members and performs account closings in consultation with supervisor. Includes Privilege Pay Program.
7. Be knowledgeable of state and federal regulations and compliance laws governing loans and collections. Research, develop and recommend changes to comply with laws as appropriate.
8. Completes assigned work in an accurate, orderly and timely manner keeping in mind deadlines and expectations.
9. Employee is required to volunteer a minimum of 10 paid hours a year for community service projects subject to supervisor’s approval or discretion. Approved projects are sponsored by the credit union and are under the direction of the Marketing Department.
10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $44,500.00 - $46,000.00 per year
