Job description
Unity Place of Monmouth County serves adults with mental illness and/or substance use disorder in a partial care and outpatient setting. Our staff work as a talented, energetic team who develop, implement and monitor individual recovery plans and progress, in order to support consumers' stability within the community.
We are seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Nurse to join our diverse, multidisciplinary team, to provide intake assessments and care plans, and prescribe and monitor medications.
Qualifications
- Applicant must have a current & valid NJ license as an APN [Advanced Practice Nurse] with at least one year experience providing direct patient care.
- Experience working with psychiatric or co-occurring patients
- Must have prescriptive authority
Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate client data, and test or examination findings, to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder
- Prescribe, direct, and administer (as needed) psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders
- Maintain necessary and appropriate documentation for all services provided in compliance with regulatory requirements policies and procedures.
- Obtain comprehensive health histories; perform or request special diagnostic and laboratory tests; interpret test results and develop comprehensive psychiatric treatment plans.
- Collaboration & consultation with staff Psychiatrist, consistent with respective to the Collaborative Agreement
- Continually updates clinical knowledge & skills through consultation, formal and informal education and review of literature for the benefit of themselves as well as for the treatment team.
- All other duties as assigned
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills Experience
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing & verbally
- Demonstrated ability to interact w/staff & clients in a professional manner
- Ability to screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, & withdrawal symptoms
- Ability to screen for danger to self or others
- Ability to analyze & interpret data to determine medical recommendations and priorities
- Ability to appropriately prescribe & monitor medications in collaboration with the Collaborating Physician
- Demonstrated adherence to acceptable ethical & behavioral standards of conduct
- Participation in continuing professional development
- Understanding of the benefits & limitations of toxicology testing procedures
- Knowledge of strategies for treating alcohol, cocaine, and other drug abuse
- Knowledge of medication-assisted therapy
- Ability to provide education & information to individuals & groups, through formal and/or informal processes, concerning their substance abuse
- Demonstrated knowledge of accepted principles of client record management
- Work schedule will be 2-4 days a week.
This position is onsite at our facility in Oceanport, NJ.
APN services will be treated as a contractor, paid on an as-invoiced basis, and will receive a 1099 at the end of the year.
Pay rate is $120/hr. with Suboxone Waiver.
