What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overdose Prevention Program Director position at Unity Recovery?
SUMMARY: The Director of the Regional Community Distribution Hub (D-RDH) will provide direct leadership and supervision of community-based distribution of overdose reversal medications and related training activities. The Director will work under the guidance of the Executive Director and/or the Recovery Support Services Director to respond to requests from, and facilitate the effective distribution of overdose medication and training, whether at the recovery center, through technological means, or in the community. The Director must demonstrate an ability to manage all aspects of Unity's distribution and training programming in all settings, including staff and programming scheduling, individual and group supervision of peer staff, social service partner relationships, and development of new training and programming as needed. The Director should consciously share personal lived experiences as appropriate, develop authentic professional relationships, and have an understanding of and respect for each individual’s unique path to wellness.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ degree in social work, public health or other relevant field OR Commensurate experience of at least four years working in leadership or program management of community-based behavioral health, public health or related settings, and at least two years of experience supervising staff in a community-based setting.
- Experience and understanding of substance related overdose events, the administration of overdose reversal medication, and training others how to respond to overdose events.
- High degree of technological literacy, or willingness to acquire these skills as part of employment.
- Background checks may be required for staff that will work with youth, inside criminal justice settings, or other settings as determined by the executive director.
- Reliable and insured personal transportation.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters’ degree in social work, public health or related social services field with a strong track record of working within programs as a community partner and peer;
- 5 years experience working in leadership or program management of community-based behavioral health, public health and/or training settings, including supervising peer, outreach or training staff, planning and delivering training, and maintaining community and provider partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Work a minimum of 5 in person days per week as scheduled and have availability of at least one weekend day each week.
- Provide overdose reversal medications and training to individuals, families and community partners upon request and through technological means.
- Provide oversight and direct supervision of overdose reversal medication distribution operations and training programs and program staff.
- Engage in relationship building and management with community, business, and
governmental partners as needed to further the reach and impact of overdose reversal medication distribution and training.
- Facilitate daily shift debriefs, as well as weekly individual supervision, and monthly group supervision in partnership with the recovery support services director and other supervisors.
- Administrative duties including mobile outreach scheduling, staff schedules, data tracking and entry, monthly distribution and training reports, and regular communication via digital platforms.
- Implement and maintain the organization’s programs to include, but not limited to: integration of recovery-oriented services, providing training to community partners; establishing new partnerships in the community; providing ongoing training to peer and leadership staff; completing monthly and annual program reporting.
- Read and interpret financial reports and make service and programming recommendations to the executive director and recovery support services director based upon this information.
- Conduct self in an ethical manner by adhering to all applicable codes of ethics.
- Follow and adhere to the Recovery Bill of Rights.
DAILY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfill all in-person overdose reversal medication orders received within forty-eight (48)
hours (inclusive of weekends) of request.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of overdose reversal medications and supplies
in all vending machines and apparatuses that are deployed within the hub region.
- Provide overdose response and prevention training to all individuals who
receive overdose reversal medication in-person from the hub.
- Provide approved virtual or in-person overdose response and prevention training
to individuals, families and community partners in the hub region, including collection of pre/post test scores for each trained individual.
- Facilitate quarterly overdose prevention and response training-of-trainers
(TOT) in the hub region for interested individuals.
- Provide approved fentanyl awareness and education to requesting individuals
and educational institutions in the hub region, including collection of pre/post test
scores for each trained individual.
- Engage in proactive outreach in the hub region to increase the awareness and
utilization of the statewide overdose reversal medication distribution and
overdose prevention and response training programs, including among
businesses, providers, healthcare services (e.g., EMS, emergency rooms),
educational institutions, and individuals.
- Identify emergency or crisis situations and facilitate access to appropriate resources, negotiating and connecting individuals with resources and navigating systems.
- Provide direct daily supervision of community outreach program staff to include real-time feedback loops, problem solving, and recommendations as needed.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of community outreach staff professional growth, including training and education in ethics, service delivery, methodology, resource navigation, and other topics as relevant.
- Maintain project logs, reports, and accurate records in appropriate files and database(s), adhering to program standards.
- Engage in continuing professional development relative to public health and/or recovery support services, applying practical and professional knowledge and experience. Maintain professional credentials and obtain new credentials as appropriate.
- Other duties as directed by executive director or recovery support services director.
