The Unity Entrepreneurial Center is headquarters for the incubation of small businesses started and owned by returning citizens and people in recovery. This innovative, dynamic setting provides everything that an aspiring entrepreneur needs to grow their idea into a small business; from office space to training and technical support, to network connections, mentorship and microgrants. All services are provided by recovery support specialists with lived experience in the carceral system and small business management, as well as in-kind partnerships with the Unity group of businesses and the local business ecosystem. The UEC team will work directly with participants as well as building relationships in the local business community.

SUMMARY: The Peer Specialist Supervisor (PSS) will provide direct leadership and supervision over peer- and community-based recovery and/or re-entry support programming and services delivered by peer specialist staff at Unity Recovery. Peer specialist staff includes CRS, CPS, CFRS, and other applicable peer roles. The PSS will work under the guidance of their assigned Program Director and local Recovery Support Services Director to facilitate the engagement of individuals who may benefit from peer support services. The PSS will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, navigator, and motivator to peer staff, and at times, individuals in or seeking recovery in an effort to promote person-centered recovery planning and goal realizations, which may include reductions in harm from substance use and sustaining long-term recovery. The PSS must demonstrate an ability to manage all aspects of peer programming, including staff and programming scheduling, one-on-one and group supervision, partner relationships, and development of new programming as needed. The PSS should consciously share personal lived experiences as appropriate, develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships, and have an understanding of and respect for each individual’s unique path to recovery and/or community re-entry.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Recovery Specialist, Certified Peer Specialist, or Certified Family Recovery Specialist with at least three years of experience working in community-based recovery settings, and at least one year of experience supervising peer staff in a community-based setting. A Certified Recovery Specialist Supervisor (CRSS) credential or completion of Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor training is highly desirable.
  • High degree of technological literacy, or willingness to acquire these skills as part of employment
  • Background checks may be required for staff that will work with youth, inside criminal justice settings, or other settings as determined by the Executive Director.
  • Reliable and insured personal transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide oversight and direct supervision of all peer specialist staff.
  • Facilitate daily shift debriefs, as well as weekly individual supervision, and monthly group supervision.
  • Provide peer-based support services to individuals contemplating or actively seeking help with behavioral health recovery and/or community-based re-entry as needed.
  • Engage in relationship building and management with community and governmental partners as needed to further the reach and impact of peer support services and programming;
  • Administrative duties include peer support services scheduling (e.g., center weekly schedule), staff schedules, data tracking and entry, monthly service engagement reports, and regular digital communication via digital platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports and make service and programming recommendations to the Executive Director based upon this information.
  • Conduct self in an ethical manner by adhering to the PCB codes of ethics.
  • Follow and adhere to the recovery bill of rights.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director and local Recovery Support Services Director.

COMPENSATION: Includes optional health, dental, and vision benefits; 401k with company match after 1 year of service; unlimited PTO; and other benefits as designated by the organization

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
