What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Unity Prayer Ministry position at Unity School Of Christianity?
Summary: Responsible for implementing strategic direction and provide leadership for the Unity Prayer Ministry (UPM) whose primary function is to pray with all who contact us for prayer support. Ensure efficient operations while maintaining a supportive and compassionate spiritual environment for prayer in the UPM and serve as the spiritual leader for the Unity Prayer Ministry. Act as a spokesperson at functions, convocations, regional conferences, and field events. Lead Unity Prayer Ministry tours and make presentations at on-ground retreats and classes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Hire, train, develop UPM leadership team to manage the day-to-day 24/7 prayer contact center operation. Establish performance goals and conduct performance appraisals.
- Oversee team hiring, training, scheduling, processes and procedures, performance goals, and dismissals.
- Ensures the integrity and consistency of the message and image.
- Ensure the integrity of prayer method and style is in alignment with our teachings.
- Serve as a liaison between Unity World Headquarters and field ministries to build and enhance collaborative relationships.
- Provide input into event planning for select major events, including World Day of Prayer and the UPM Retreat.
- Serve major donors and represent Unity in fundraising activities in conjunction with the philanthropy department, including donor visits and direct response review as requested.
- Manage spiritual support center to create an environment that nurtures and supports a consciousness of prayer.
- Ensure quality and timely service on the English and Bilingual prayer lines, social media pages and electronic prayer requests, by providing well-developed training programs, management coaching, and spiritual support.
- Develop staffing plans and the annual budget based on strategic initiatives and service level goals. Manage expenses to budget.
- Ensure continuous prayer in the Prayer Vigil Chapel maintained by the UPM staff.
- Analyze calls and other contact activity data and trends to make sound decisions for short-term and long-range planning.
- Lead meetings and participate in presentations, programs, and events.
- Regular and reliable attendance at the worksite and adhere to assigned schedule. this position is not a remote or telecommute position.
- Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures per the guidebook including all safety requirements including all safety guidelines.
- Utilize electronic time management system to input time, attendance and paid off request.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and lead positive change initiatives, as requested.
- Work with Information Services as needed to make decisions regarding computer and telephone needs.
Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent education or leadership experience.
Experience and Requirements:
- 5 years experience leading and managing multiple levels of staff.
- 5 years in a call center environment.
- Proven supervisory and coaching skills and experience developing supervisors and staff.
- Excellent team building skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively to all levels within the organization.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to negotiate, problem solve and manage conflict situations.
- Demonstrated budgeting, forecast and financial management skills.
- Experience with long-term strategic planning and implementation.
- Skilled in leading organizational change and servant leadership.
- In-depth understanding of Unity principles and affirmative prayer, as evident in spiritual practices and approach.
- Schedule flexibility and ability to occasionally work nights and weekends.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate end user of MS Office: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
- Call activity and scheduling software experience.
Certificates & Licenses: Licensed and ordained Unity minister or Licensed Unity Teacher working towards ordination required.
